THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS

During my Coach tour around the UK, I also had the opportunity to drive through the Highlands which is a historic region of Scotland. The area is sometimes referred to as the "Scottish Highlands."

The area is very sparsely populated, with many mountain ranges dominating the region, and includes the highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis.

There is not much to write about it the pictures are self explaining. I had never seen such a beautiful and strange mountain region which seemed to be completely untouched by humans. Usually mountains look green because of the trees. In the Highlands it is different. There are not many trees, the mountains are covered with a green carpet, which sometimes even looks like the fake grass carpets you see around swimming pools or patios.

All pictures have been taken out of the bus.

and then we arrived at the end of the Highlands in Callander where we also stayed over night.

Slowly we went back to civilisation. One thing is for sure I will never forget this beautiful stunning landscape !

Beautiful scenery, it is so stark and empty. You are a very talented photographer. So many highlanders like my grt. grandfather must have been sad to leave such beauty and go to Canada or Australia, I think they had no choice if they wanted a better life or any sort of life.

Beautiful. Its easy to understand why so many Scots came to Canada over the years. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

Those are incredible photos from inside the coach! The scenery is stunning. Although those mountains are not very high by world standards, there is still a lot of snow on them.
